Position Overview

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team by performing back office and patient-related tasks. Supports high-quality patient care, ensures smooth workflow, and assists in implementing the medical plan of care. Performs duties under clinician supervision, integrating education, technical skills, and patient interaction to foster confidence and cooperation from patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Minimum Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program approved by the Medical Board of California (diploma required within 90 days)
• OR Equivalent Sutter Health Training program
• OR Completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training equivalent to one year

Certification & Licensure

• BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
• MA Certification recognized by a California Medical Board-approved agency (required for incentive eligibility in 2025)

Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant recent experience

Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of medical procedures, equipment, and terminology
• Competence in basic Medical Assisting skills (vital signs, patient prep, injections)
• Ability to interpret data and instructions
• Effective communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records
