Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice. You will support clinicians by rooming patients, taking vitals, updating medical history, and preparing charts.

The role requires at least two years of MA experience, certification or registration, and bilingual skills. Excellent communication and multitasking are essential for success in this fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Must be bilingual.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vitals.
• Interview and update chief complaint and medical history.
• Prepare patient charts and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to patient charts.
• Stock and clean exam rooms before/after clinics.
• Refill medications and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Ensure physician in-network status and referrals in chart.
• Assist physician with wound care or procedures.
• Follow up on calls and document conversations.
• Educate patients on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments.
• Obtain necessary orders authorizations.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Perform related duties as required.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient


• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.


• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.


• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.


• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.


• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.


• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.


• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.


• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation


• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.


• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.


• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.


• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)


• Travel to other CLS Health Locations


• Performs related duties as required.
