Job summary

CLS Health PLLC in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice. You will support clinicians by rooming patients, taking vital signs, updating medical histories, preparing charts, and handling administrative tasks to keep clinics running smoothly.

The role requires certified or registered MA credentials, 2+ years of experience, strong communication, multitasking ability, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing terminology.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient and preparing the exam area.
• Interview/update chief complaint, medical history, medications, and vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Stock and clean rooms before, after each patient, and at day end.
• Refill patient medications and obtain pre-authorization/determination.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are current.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with wound care/procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document conversations.
• Educate patient on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedule patients after physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization before sending any orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Perform related duties as required.

We are Looking for:

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

• Rooming the patient


• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.


• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.


• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.


• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.


• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.


• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.


• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.


• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation


• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.


• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.


• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.


• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)


• Travel to other CLS Health Locations


• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program


• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant


• Must be willing to trave to other CLS Health locations


• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications


• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
