Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant I to join our Santa Monica Health Center on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will support front and back office operations, perform testing and education, and provide compassionate care in reproductive health services.

Requirements include a MA diploma/certificate, BLS certification or eligibility within 30 days, 1–2 years clinical experience, Saturday availability, and venipuncture/injection training within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate required
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required or willing to obtain within 30 days
• At least 1–2 years of clinical experience
• Availability to work flexible hours including Saturdays
• Venipuncture and injection training to be completed within 1 year
• Reproductive health care experience desirable
• Knowledge of surgical services preferred
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, contraception, STIs, pregnancy and related protocols

Responsibilities

• Back office duties: obtain medical history, vital signs, assist nurses and clinicians, manage patient flow, infection control and supplies
• Front office duties: greet patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, collect payments and file charts
• Support for pregnancy testing and counseling; patient education and pre-screening
• Assist in examinations, set up rooms and prepare lab slips
• Handle phlebotomy/injection tasks and basic testing as directed
• Support administrative tasks and ensure compliance with agency protocols
