Schedule:
Monday - Saturday (4-10 hour shifts, variable days)
5:30 AM - 6:00 PM (variable hours)
Must be available to work Saturday days (7:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

Primary Purpose:
Assists in assessment, examination, and treatment of patients under the direction of a licensed medical provider. Provides safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.

Essential Functions:
Interacts with patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Assists medical provider with illness, injury, well care exams, treatment, and minor procedures.
Prepares exam and procedure rooms for patient care.
Prepares patients for medical visits, examinations, and procedures including taking and recording vital signs, and entering medical history into medical record.
Conducts patient assessments within scope of practice.
Administers vaccines and injectable medications.
Provides patient education within level of training and scope of practice.
Completes medication refills, leave of absence paperwork, patient referrals, and medical records requests.
Schedules appointments and responds to patient questions via phone and patient portal.
Collects specimens for laboratory analysis and performs point of care testing.
Performs additional responsibilities such as restocking supplies, cleaning exam rooms and equipment maintenance.
Participates and contributes in team meetings and other work groups
Performs receptionist/front desk responsibilities as needed.
Follows ARUP policies and procedures, ARUP Family Health Clinic code of conduct, is HIPAA compliant and meets all regulatory requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company/departmental policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Abide by the Code of Conduct as outlined in the ARUP employee handbook.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS certification) or completed within 90 days of hire
Certification from a Medical Assistant course, EMT or C.N.A. certification
Knowledge of medical terminology
Previous work experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient clinic setting
Two years of full-time experience in a medical clinic or healthcare setting
