Job summary

CLS Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice in Houston, TX. The role supports comprehensive patient care, rooming, taking vitals, preparing charts, and coordinating referrals.

Responsibilities include documenting medical history, updating medication lists, and assisting physicians with wound care and procedures. Travel to other CLS Health locations may be required, with benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Certified or registered medical assistant with CMA or RMA certification.
• Experience in a medical office preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient.
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Rooms stocked and cleaned before clinic, after each patient, and at day end.
• Refill patient medications and obtain prior authorization/determination for meds.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are current.
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document conversations.
• Educate patient on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered by physicians.
• Schedule patients after physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization before sending orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Performs related duties as required.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectivelyStrong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
