Job summary

CLS Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice in Houston, Texas. The role supports safe, effective patient care and coordinates with physicians and staff to keep clinics running smoothly.

The responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals and medical history, updating charts, handling referrals, and assisting during exams. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with national certification.
• Experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient and prepare examination area.
• Interview and update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medications, and vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Keep exam rooms stocked and clean before/after each patient and at day end.
• Refill patient medications as directed and obtain pre-authorization for meds.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone conversations.
• Educate and inform patients about DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered by physicians.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members and handle related duties.

We are Looking for:

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Experience as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
