Job summary

CLS Health PLLC in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support multispecialty patient care. The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals, updating medical history, preparing charts, and assisting clinicians in the exam room.

The candidate must be bilingual with 2+ years in a medical office or customer service setting, and possess CMA certification or be a graduate of an approved MA program; strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation or graduate of an approved program.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Must be bilingual.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient and take vitals, interview/chief complaint, and update medical history.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts and keep rooms stocked and clean.
• Refill medications as directed and obtain pre-authorization/determination as needed.
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document the phone log.
• Educate patients on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after visit and coordinate orders.

We are Looking for:

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be bilingual
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
