Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support multispecialty clinics in delivering safe, efficient patient care. The role features on-site work with periodic travel to CLS Health locations.

You will room patients, take histories and vitals, assist physicians, and manage documentation and referrals. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential, along with proficiency in office software.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
• Two+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a medical office preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document history, chief complaint, medications, and vitals.
• Prepare patient charts in advance and verify benefits information.
• Assist physicians in exam rooms and with wound care or procedures.
• Schedule follow-ups and coordinate referrals; obtain authorizations as needed.
• Maintain clean, stocked rooms and manage chart scanning and fax distribution.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
