Job summary

Northwell Career Site is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care under the physician's or nurse's direct supervision, preparing patients for exams and recording laboratory results. The role involves coordinating care, organizing medical records, and supporting the clinical team.

The position requires completing a Medical Assistant training program with certificate or 1-3 years of related experience, plus adherence to infection control standards and proper documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training program with certificate or 1-3 years experience as a MA/EMT or CNA with a valid certificate, or completion of Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures; document findings in the medical record.
• Collect and assist in specimen collection using standard protocols; complete requisitions, labeling, and routing.
• Perform daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment and report inaccuracies to supervisor.
• Perform electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders; adhere to infection control standards.
• Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures following infection control and universal protocols; ensure supplies and patient comfort.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of exam rooms; stock supplies and complete required logs (refrigerator, eyewash, etc.).
• Assist with pre-visit chart preparation and other clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow.
• All responsibilities are considered essential functions under the ADA; other related duties may apply.

Education
