Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to performs patient care under the physician's/nurse's direct supervision in a New York setting. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, recording diagnostic results, and coordinating care with the health care team.

The role requires either completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate or 1–3 years experience in MA/EMT/CNA roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1–3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician or certified nursing attendant (with valid certificate) OR successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Performs vital signs, measurements, screening procedures, and documents findings.
• Collects and assists in specimen collection following standard procedures.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment as needed.
• Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders and infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations while maintaining patient safety.
• Maintains clean and stocked exam rooms and required logs and equipment.
• Pre-visits chart preparation and handling of medical records as applicable.
• Performs clerical duties to ensure efficient patient flow through the suite.
• Recognizes responsibilities as essential under applicable disability acts.
