Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide both medical assisting and administrative support in a fast-paced clinic setting. You will greet patients, verify insurance, schedule visits, and document data in the EHR.

Under supervision, you will perform basic patient care, prepare rooms, and assist with tests and lab work. This role requires an MA program graduate, CMA/RMA certification, CPR, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent; MA program completion required.
• 1–2 years of medical office experience required.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program; CMA or RMA preferred or required.
• CPR certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Strong communication and computer skills; knowledge of EHR (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks-in patients; verifies insurance; triages calls; schedules appointments.
• Enters patient demographics and financial data in the EHR; scans documents and tests results into the chart.
• Provides basic patient care under supervision; prepares exam rooms; performs routine diagnostic tests.
• Assists with medication processing and communicates physician instructions.
• Maintains inventory and sterilizes equipment in exam rooms.
• Participates in meetings and performance improvement activities.
• Duties may vary; may perform other comparable duties as assigned by manager.
