GoHealth Urgent Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to support an urgent care team with accuracy and quality, helping provide an effortless patient experience. The role emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and accountability while supporting the mission to be the urgent care partner of choice.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma (MA program preferred), MA experience, and BLS certification; CPOE certification is required within two weeks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; MA program graduate preferred.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• Medical Assistant experience and front desk experience preferred.
• CPOE certification due within two weeks of start date.
• Candidates without MA cert must obtain one within 15 months.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred

Experience

• Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Front desk or patient registration experience preferred
• BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Certification / Equivalent Experience

Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications:

• CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
• CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
• RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT)
• NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
• NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)

In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept:

• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN)
• EMT – Emergency Medical Technician
• Paramedic
• CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
• Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire***

CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date.
