Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our urgent care team. You will register patients, assist clinicians, perform point-of-care tests, and manage documentation to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires a High School Diploma, MA program graduation or equivalent experience, and BLS. Certification options (CCMA/CMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA) are accepted with a potential 15-month certification window.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• CPOE certification required within two weeks of start date.
• MA certifications accepted in lieu of MA education: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
• Candidates without MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Certification / Equivalent Experience

Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications:

• RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT)
• NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)

In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept:

• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN)
• EMT – Emergency Medical Technician
• Paramedic
• CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
• Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire***

CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date.
