Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our urgent care team with patient intake, vitals, and documentation. You will verify insurance, schedule appointments, and prepare patients for examination in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, Medical Assisting program preferred, BLS certification, and front desk experience. MA certification or equivalent may be considered; CPOE within two weeks of hire; sign-on bonus up to $2,000.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• CPOE certification required within two weeks of start date.
• CMA/CCMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA or equivalent certification considered when MA certification is present.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred

Experience

• Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Front desk or patient registration experience preferred
• BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Certification / Equivalent Experience

Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications:

• CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
• CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
• RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT)
• NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
• NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)

In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept:

• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN)
• EMT – Emergency Medical Technician
• Paramedic
• CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
• Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire***

CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date.
