Job summary

Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Tampa-area GI department. You will support patient intake, assist clinicians during exams, document procedures, and help coordinate scheduling and testing in an ambulatory care setting.

The role requires MA training, BLS, and ongoing certification. Expect collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to Orlando Health policies across multiple clinic locations.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting).
• Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• If hired after Jan 1, 2015, maintains certification within 6 months of hire by one of the listed agencies.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents, treatments, procedures, and patient education per policies.
• Enter medication, laboratory and imaging orders into the EMR under provider direction.
• Maintain infection control standards and comply with policies.
