Job summary

Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a physician or APP in an ambulatory care setting.

Gathers patient data, assists with examinations and procedures, and documents treatments with adherence to Orlando Health policies. The role requires collaboration with clinical and administrative staff and travel between offices in Florida.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school.
• Must maintain current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• If hired after January 1, 2015, maintains current certification by one of the listed MA certifying agencies within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to policies.
• Enter medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders into the EMR under provider direction.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and infection control standards.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Indicator activities as assigned.

Education

Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
