Job description

Under the general supervision of the Practice Director, the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Advanced Practice Professionals, and the practice team with direct and support-related patient care, ensuring patients are treated respectfully, confidentially, and in a friendly manner.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to complete documented workflows accurately.
2. Document and update patient medical histories within EMR guidelines, including vital signs, medical, social, surgical, and family histories.
3. Complete daily work lists, including order tracking, tasking, and document import, providing timely patient care.
4. Ensure compliance with all regulatory item collection.

Additional Duties:

• Perform pre-visit planning, including obtaining records from other healthcare providers.
• Prepare examination rooms with supplies and maintain cleanliness.
• Greet patients professionally, escort them to exam rooms, and explain procedures.
• Prepare and position patients for examinations.
• Assist with specimen collection and processing, sterilize equipment, and order supplies.
• Manage medication orders, immunizations, and vaccine handling according to standards.
• Coordinate referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-approvals.
• Handle patient calls, schedule appointments, and process orders for tests and referrals.
