Part Time, Day Shift - Days and hours vary Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, can be flexible.

The Medical Assistant will provide support to the practice in the functional areas of clerical, clinical, and business under the direct supervision of a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Physician.

Requirements:

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. For hires after 11/28/2011: CMA/RMA/CCMA certification/registration required or within 6 months of hire OR credentialed through a formal training program that includes testing of knowledge.
  3. BLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Perform clinical duties such as pre-visit work, obtaining vital signs, providing medication reconciliation, and assisting providers with examinations and/or procedures.
  2. Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization as required. Ensure exam rooms are cleaned and stocked.
  3. Respond to patient phone portal messages on the same day following standard work procedures and messaging policy.
  4. Use standing protocols to complete pre-visit work, close gaps in care, administrate vaccines, and complete prescription refills.
  5. Schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing and place follow-up calls to patients after surgery.
  6. Perform daily administrative duties of the practice: greeting/check-in/check-out, scheduling patients, answering telephones, taking messages, organizing patient charts, filing, pulling and copying patient records, collection of co-pays and patient balances, post-payment and adjustment transactions, and balancing daily journal.
  7. Maintain and adhere to established Core Physicians policies and procedures and federal regulations, including patient confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  8. Participate in the daily huddle and complete any required actions, working as a member of the care team to ensure proper communication between team members.
  9. In some practices, perform scribing duties; accompany the provider into the patient examination room and accurately document the encounter; order labs, make referrals, and order prescriptions as recommended by the provider.
  10. Monitor care team metrics to evaluate improvement metrics and outcomes.
  11. Provide coverage for other Core Offices as needed based on priorities, and perform other duties as assigned.
