POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant at Marshall Medical Clinics works with providers and staff to ensure effective medical care is delivered to all patients in a timely, dignified, and caring manner. This position maintains the continuity of patient care to ensure the utmost patient satisfaction. The Medical Assistant will prepare patients for examinations and assist providers as needed; complete medication refills, lab result follow-ups, referrals to specialists, patient callbacks, order medical supplies, and clean/sterilize medical equipment and exam rooms. Medical Assistants may be required to float to other clinics and perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall goals of Marshall Medical Clinics.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification from the California Certified Medical Assistant Board (CCMA) or the National American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or an approved certifying body, required for Medical Assistant 2.

Knowledge

• Experience with injections, EKGs, medication administration, and vital signs required.
• Basic computer skills, data entry, and electronic medical record (EMR) experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient/family health education required.

Skills

• Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to reprioritize tasks as needed.
• A pleasant and friendly demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and verify credentials with external partners, including identity verification for VA insurance coordination.
