Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to prepare exam rooms, assist providers, and support patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. You will review charts, collect vitals, and document medical histories, while coordinating clerical duties such as registration and scheduling.

The role emphasizes infection control and accurate data entry in the EMR system. Two years of relevant experience and an AHA BLS certification are preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of work experience as a medical assistant, EMT or direct patient care role.
• AHA BLS certification required; non-licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of vital signs, medical terminology, basic computer data entry and medical record management.
• Usual work day: 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists LIP as requested.
• Notifies provider of patient's arrival and readiness for their examination.
• Records medical history, current medications, treatments, and problem list accurately.
• Obtains and records patient vital signs, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
• Accurately inputs data in the EMR and scheduling systems; handles patient registration and scheduling.
• Assists with equipment cleaning, infection control and pasteurization per protocol.
• Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep duties as needed.
