Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Gordon Gold and Associates in McCandless. The position involves back office and front office duties with daytime hours Monday–Friday, no evenings or weekends.

Prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred as applicants are placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Responsibilities include HIPAA-compliant record handling, phlebotomy, EKGs, basic labs, patient transport, and assisting physicians.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, schedule appointments, verify insurance, manage charts.
• Set up patient rooms, clean rooms and equipment, maintain infection control, restock supplies.
• Check schedules and manage patient flow; escort patients to rooms; assist with walking, transfers, and sample collection.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures; document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health and UPMC policies; maintain confidentiality.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectables and vaccines when appropriate.
