Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred but not required.
• Certification: CPR-BLS required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) preferred but not required.
• Experience: At least 1 year in a medical office; on-the-job training available for those without prior MA training.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort them to exam room.
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for visit.
• Perform basic vitals such as blood pressure, height and weight.
• Provide front office support as needed.
• Phlebotomy and injections vary by specialty.
