Job summary

UC San Diego's Encinitas Primary Care clinic is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to join a fast-paced, team-based setting. You will perform rooming, vital signs, venipuncture, and assist with procedures, while supporting clinic operations and patient flow.

Requires CMA or accredited MA program completion and a current BLS; 1 year of Primary Care experience preferred. Excellent teamwork and infection control are essential, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at time of hire (BART required within 6 months)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficiency in venipuncture

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures
• Performing venipuncture and specimen collection
• Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations
• Scheduling appointments and navigating electronic health records
• Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards
• Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication
