Job summary

UC San Diego Health on the UCSD campus seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care delivery under supervision and in alignment with California regulations and Joint Commission standards.

The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals, venipuncture, and assisting with procedures while helping manage clinic operations and patient communication. Prior experience in Primary Care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Current BART certification, or BLS with commitment to get BART within six months of hire.
• Minimum one year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting.
• Proficiency in venipuncture/blood draws.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
• Performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations.
• Scheduling appointments and navigating electronic health records.
• Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards.
• Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication.
