Job summary

UPMC Orthopaedic Surgery at Mercy Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Foot & Ankle team. This role covers back office and front office duties, with daylight hours 8am to 4:30pm and no evenings or weekends.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Responsibilities include patient records, scheduling, room preparation, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Ability to perform back and front office duties.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control.
• Take vitals and assist with procedures.
• Assist physicians with phlebotomy, EKGs, and labs.
