Job summary

Richmond University Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant Coordinator to oversee daily clinical and administrative workflows, ensuring smooth patient flow and high-quality experiences. You will coordinate scheduling, authorizations, and patient communication, while providing clinical support to physicians as needed.

Responsibilities include rooming, vitals, basic procedures, EMR documentation, and assisting with examinations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical assistant or healthcare setting
  • BLS certification is required
  • Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certificate/Diploma from an accredited program required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily patient flow, including scheduling, follow-ups, and provider support
  • Obtain and manage insurance authorizations and referrals
  • Serve as primary point of contact for patient questions and care coordination
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system
  • Manage medical records, insurance verification, and required forms
  • Support office operations and assist the Office Manager with workflow coordination
  • Prepare patients for provider encounters, including rooming and intake
  • Take and record vital signs
  • Perform basic clinical procedures (EKG, blood draws, specimen collection, injections)
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked and prepared
  • Other duties as assigned

This role serves as a central point of coordination for patient scheduling, authorizations, and communication, while also providing clinical support to physicians as needed. The MA Coordinator ensures smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate daily patient flow, including scheduling, follow-ups, and provider support

  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Manage medical records, insurance verification, and required forms
  • Support office operations and assist the Office Manager with workflow coordination
  • Prepare patients for provider encounters, including rooming and intake
  • Take and record vital signs
  • Perform basic clinical procedures such as EKGs, blood draws, specimen collection, and injections

Required Qualifications:

Shift: Days w/ eo wknd & hols. Salary Range: $27.45/hr - $29.61/hr (Commensurate with Experience)
