Job summary

Atrium Health Floyd is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Rome General Administration area. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with procedures, and handling lab tasks while maintaining accurate records in the EMR system.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this 40-hour/week, full-time position. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (or DD214 in lieu).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214 in lieu.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Proficient computer skills and EMR experience are expected.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, med history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of med administration.
• Handles referrals, scheduling, and patient messaging.
• Cross-trained for duties relevant to clinic practice.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and equipment is functioning.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and team communication.
