Job summary

CloseKnit in Woodley Park, DC is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support clinicians in a busy in-person clinical setting. The role combines clinical and administrative duties, with potential weekend shifts and variable hours based on patient needs.

Ideal candidates have a Medical Assistant training program, current CCMA/CMA/RMA certification, BLS/CPR, and at least two years of MA experience, plus proficiency with EMR/EHR systems. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with exams, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures.
• Conduct clinical intake, including detailed patient histories and vitals.
• Administer injections and medications as directed by licensed providers.
• Perform venipuncture and collect lab specimens (blood, urine, POC testing, etc.).
• Operate medical equipment such as EKG machines and other diagnostic tools.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and conduct basic lab procedures.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, follow-up care, and self-care instructions.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and properly sanitized exam rooms.
• Support quality initiatives, including PCMH-related tasks and clinical KPI adherence.
• Greet and register patients with a professional demeanor.
• Manage check-ins/outs and verify insurance coverage.
• Maintain and update patient information in the EHR.
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments.
• Process prior authorizations, referrals, and daily patient callbacks.
• Track and link diagnostic imaging orders to results.
• Manage inventory and daily opening/closing procedures.
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Support staff coverage and assist team members.
