Position: Medical Assistant - Clinic

Location: East Chicago, IN

Specialty: Family Medicine

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Provider, performs patient care services, assists the Provider and other medical staff with patient visits and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting. May also perform front desk duties, including telephone work, patient scheduling, and supply ordering. If applicable, responsibilities may include phlebotomy, such as collecting and processing specimens like blood, urine, pap smears, and cultures.

Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
  • Six months of previous Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Current CPR certification required; TB certification may be required for some offices
  • Basic knowledge of medical documentation and terminology; accuracy in recording information
  • Strong organizational skills focused on patient care and flow improvement
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Completion of annual skill validation, safety, and infection control procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and staff
