Position: Medical Assistant - Clinic

Location: East Chicago

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Provider, performs patient care services, assists the Provider and other medical staff with patient visits and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting. May also perform front desk duties, including telephone work, patient scheduling, and supply ordering. If applicable, responsibilities include phlebotomy such as blood, urine, pap smears, and cultures.

Education/Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
• Six months of previous Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Current CPR certification required; TB certification may be necessary for some offices
• Basic knowledge of medical documentation and terminology; ability to record information accurately
• Organizational skills focused on patient care and flow improvement
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and stay calm in busy or stressful situations
• Completion of annual skill validation, safety, and infection control procedures
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff
