Job summary

UPMC | GoHealth Urgent Care seeks a Medical Assistant to support our urgent care centers with patient check-in, vitals, specimen collection, and documentation for a seamless patient experience.

The role encourages collaboration in a fast-paced clinical setting, with emphasis on accuracy, quality, and timely care. We welcome candidates from diverse clinical backgrounds and provide certification options and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• Certifications accepted: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
• In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, options include 1+ year MA experience in hospital/urgent care, nursing program graduate (LPN/RN), EMT, Paramedic, CNA.
• CPOE certification for order entry required within two weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and quality checks on equipment.
