Indiana Health Centers, Inc. in South Bend (IHC South Bend-Bendix) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care, prep examination rooms, and assist providers during exams.

The role emphasizes accurate data collection and teamwork in a community health setting. The MA will obtain vital signs, update patient histories, perform EKGs and basic testing, assist with immunizations, and maintain EMR accuracy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current BLS Certification (AED included).
• Certified Medical Assistant (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist patient to examination room and collect information for provider.
• Obtain vital signs and medical history updates.
• Assist doctors with exams, minor procedures, EKGs, testing, and immunizations.
• Perform venipunctures and lab specimen collection.
• Update EMR with results and manage lab/test documentation.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain supplies in exam rooms.

IHC South Bend- Bendix is now recruiting for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team. The MA contributes to IHC's mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, cost competitiveness, and productivity by performing basic preparation and examination of the patient, maintenance of supplies in the examination areas, as well as maintenance of instruments and equipment. Monday- 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Tuesday- 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Wednesday- 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Thursday- 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Friday- 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Saturday- Closed

Medical Assistant role responsibilities include:

• Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
• Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
• Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
• Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient's age
• Assists the doctor with examinations, minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
• Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
• Performs HCT/HGBs, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc.
• Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
• Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
• Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test results
• Follows up on TB and Immunizations
• Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log
• Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
• Sterilizes instruments

Required skills:

• Experience with electronic health record preferred

Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program
• Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)

Preferred:

• Certified Medical Assistant
