Job summary

Indiana Health Centers, Inc. (IHC) Owen County is hiring a Medical Assistant to join the Spencer team. The MA will assist clinicians, prepare examination rooms, record vital signs, and support testing and minor procedures.

Qualification includes a High School Diploma or MA program completion with BLS. EHR experience is preferred. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and a stable, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • BLS certification (AED) required.
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients from the exam room and support the provider with information gathering.
  • Obtain vital signs and collect pertinent health information.
  • Maintain patient history and appropriate documentation in EMR.
  • Assist with examinations, minor procedures, and testing.
  • Sterilize instruments and prepare supplies for sessions.

IHC Owen County in Spencer is now recruiting for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team.

The MA contributes to IHC’s mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, cost competitiveness, and productivity by performing basic preparation and examination of the patient, maintenance of supplies in the examination areas, as well as maintenance of instruments and equipment.

Medical Assistant Role Responsibilities Include
  • Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
  • Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
  • Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
  • Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient’s age
  • Assists the doctor with examinations, minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
  • Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
  • Performs HCT/HGBs, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc.
  • Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
  • Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
  • Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test resultsFollows up on TB and Immunizations
  • Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log
  • Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
  • Sterilizes instruments

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program
  • Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)
Preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant
