Job summary

Indiana Health Centers, Inc. is hiring a Medical Assistant (MA) to join the Kokomo team. The MA supports patient flow, prepares examination rooms, and helps with exams and procedures.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, updating medical history, obtaining laboratory samples, administering vaccines, and maintaining EMR records. This role emphasizes patient communication and teamwork within a multi-center clinic system in Indiana.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Current BLS certification (AED included) is required.
• Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients to examination room and provide information.
• Obtain vital signs and collect patient data.
• Update patient medical history and health plan information.
• Assist doctors with examinations and minor procedures.
• Perform EKGs, hearing and vision tests, and nebulizer treatments.
• Conduct venipunctures and administer immunizations.
• Record lab results and manage related paperwork and inventories.

IHC Kokomo is now recruiting for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team. The MA contributes to IHC’s mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, cost competitiveness, and productivity by performing basic preparation and examination of the patient, maintenance of supplies in the examination areas, as well as maintenance of instruments and equipment.

Monday - 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Tuesday - 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Wednesday - 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Thursday - 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Friday - 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Saturday - 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Medical Assistant role responsibilities include:

• Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
• Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
• Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
• Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient’s age
• Assists the doctor with examinations, minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
• Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
• Performs HCT/HGBs, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc.
• Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
• Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
• Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test results
• Follows up on TB and Immunizations
• Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log
• Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
• Sterilizes instruments

Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program
• Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)

Preferred:

• Certified Medical Assistant
