Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in Yakima, WA is offering a Medical Assistant Apprentice role as a full-time program. It combines 2000 hours of paid on-the-job training with 410 hours of online coursework and three in-person lab days to build hands-on skills under guidance of an MA coach.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, preparing for visits, assisting providers, and supporting exams while ensuring safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required (level 10).
• Medical knowledge to understand medical theories and procedures.
• Strong people skills for diverse backgrounds.
• Strong multi-tasking to handle pace and workload.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update patient records, including medical history, current status, vital signs, treatments, and medications.
• Review and prepare for patient visits and provide updates to the Provider team.
• Coordinate with Providers to ensure efficient schedules and continuity of care.
• Prepare and maintain patient exam rooms with supplies and sterile equipment.
• Explain procedures and provide limited education to patients; advise on medications and allergies.
• Respond to patient questions in person and via email; route off-scope inquiries.
• Assist physicians during exams, procedures, and minor surgeries; anticipate needs.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and review data per protocol; document in EMR.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed.
