The Role You’ll Contribute

Provide clerical/office and competency-based clinical support within a physician clinic, including reception, telephone, retrieval of medical information, patient greeting, rooming, vital signs, EKG, and documentation in EMR. Support by facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patients to meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. This is a six-month, hands-on work/study program providing training and education to candidates aiming to become certified Medical Assistants. At the end, candidates will test to become certified.

The Value You’ll Bring To The Team

• Provide clerical/office and clinical support within a physician clinic, including reception, telephone, and retrieval of medical information.

Competency Phases

• Phase I: Patient Rooming, recording vital signs, performing EKG, EMR documentation.
• Phase II: Collecting POC test samples (Urine, Rapid Strep/Influenza), EMR documentation.
• Phase III: Venipuncture, specimen collection, EMR documentation.
• Phase IV: Oral medication administration, EMR documentation.
• Phase V: Injections and immunizations, EMR documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Careful, professional attitude and commitment to growth.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of medication responsibilities.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Enrolled in AHMG Medical Assistant training/apprenticeship program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service, leadership skills, basic office and computer skills, attention to detail, desire to work with patients.
• Up to one year of medical office experience.
