Job description

BMC is a local, independent, and physician-owned medical group with over 20 primary and specialty care departments, 90 providers, and 325+ clinical and support professionals. Since our founding by 10 physicians in 1949, we have grown and evolved to meet the needs of Boulder County and beyond.

We currently have clinics located in Boulder (2 locations), Louisville, Longmont, and Erie.

Job Summary:

In partnership with Front Range Community College (FRCC), Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is participating in the Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship Program.

As a paid Apprentice, you will be working 32 - 40 hours per week while receiving hands-on clinical experience coupled with your in-person and online training / coursework received at FRCC. Upon completion of the training program, Apprentices will continue employment with BMC and will have the opportunity to sit for the national MA certification exam.

Job Duties:

  • Perform clinic administrative duties, including but not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient information, patient check in/out, coordinate and facilitate accurate patient appointment
  • Obtain patient medical history, vital signs, chart preparation, medication dosage and frequency, patient allergies, and assist with medical examinations
  • Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies
  • Preparing examination room, ensuring proper equipment is present and room is adequately stocked
  • Document all aspects of the patient encounter on an electronic medical record system

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) education program at FRCC
  • Applicants will commit to 32 hours per week of clinical experience in addition to FRCC’s courses.

Experience:

  • Interest in pursing a career in Healthcare
  • Basic business office skills, clinical skills, and computer skills.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology, prior healthcare experience.
