Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care across our sites in Danvers. Under supervision of licensed providers, the MA performs direct patient care, assists with clinical operations, and supports care coordination to ensure a smooth daily workflow.

The role emphasizes fast-paced, team-based care with strong emphasis on accurate EMR documentation, attention to patient comfort, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Medical Assistant (Certified), EMT, CNA, or LNA certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, room, and prepare patients for visits; take and document vital signs and intake information
• Support clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing)
• Maintain clean, stocked, and ready exam rooms throughout the day
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR per clinical guidelines
• May assist with scheduling, check-in, referrals, and patient instructions
• Communicates effectively with providers, patients and team members about delays, appointment needs, or follow-ups
• Follow all assigned workflows, safety protocols, infection control standards and clinical policies and department guidelines.
• Support operational flow and provider efficiency by anticipating needs and adjusting to same-day changes
• Escort patients to labs or ancillary services, as needed
• May participate in specialized clinical workflows (e.g., prescription refills, prior authorizations, high-level disinfection)
