The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. They prepare patients during office visits and assist patients and family members before, during, and after a doctor’s visit.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
- Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab areas, and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaints.
- Measure, record, and document vital signs.
- Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other specimen collection as directed by the provider, where applicable.
- Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations.
- Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
- Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
- Represent the office professionally, treating all customers, internal and external, courteously and cooperatively.
- Participate in team activities and professional development.
- Attend required meetings.

- Comply with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain certification within the first 120 days of employment.
- To be eligible for MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program, served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge, or obtain a letter of attestation from a licensed physician confirming at least one year of Medical Assistant experience within the last three years.
- Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain it within 30 days via Women’s Care training.
- Experience in OBGYN or Primary Care is a plus.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
- Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of personnel, providers, patients, and their families, both written and verbal.
- Good organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, and work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records, preferably eCW.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Dependable, reliable, and punctual.
