Qualifications

Position: Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing a consistent, high-quality patient experience at ZoomCare clinics through excellent customer service and attention to clinical detail. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments (in-person and telehealth), updating medical records, checking patients in and out, performing blood draws, processing labs, and maintaining inventory.

Schedule and Training

Work schedule options include:

  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and a half-day Wednesday, or
  • Half-day Wednesday through Saturday.

Clinic positions require 2-3 weeks of training: the first week at our Tigard basecamp (partially remote), followed by traveling to multiple clinics. Additional mandatory training may be required outside scheduled hours.

Essential Functions
  • Represent our values: Awesome, Creative, Respectful, Team Players, Get it Done.
  • Check patients in/out, manage demographic and insurance info, process payments, and assist patients with insurance and medical records.
  • Interview patients, record medical history, take vital signs, perform blood draws, finger sticks, and EKGs.
  • Apply splints and dressings, facilitate wound care under provider orders.
  • Process lab specimens, maintain lab standards, and complete proficiency testing.
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures, administer medications and vaccines, and provide emergency care as needed.
  • Manage inventory and maintain medical equipment.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance patient experience and clinic operations.
  • Ensure clinic cleanliness and safety compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, AthenaOne, and relevant software.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 month.
  • Vaccinations: COVID-19, Hepatitis B, MMR, PPD, Varicella, TD/TDAP.
  • Ability to obtain a phlebotomy license within 6 months; relevant experience preferred.
  • Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent licensure.

Working Conditions
  • Must wear masks as needed.
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching overhead.
  • Occasional crouching, kneeling, bending.
  • Prolonged periods of standing/sitting and working at a computer.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work at different clinic locations.
  • Work outside scheduled hours if patient volume demands.
  • Ability to focus visually between near and far distances.
  • Ability to wear a respirator after fit testing.
