Responsibilities:

1. Manage patient flow and perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals.
2. Act as liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction.
3. Maintain and order supplies; interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff; escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
4. Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
5. Remain proficient with information technology systems within scope of practice.
6. Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; perform EKG and venipuncture/injections as needed.
7. Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
8. Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
3. Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

1. HS Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
3. BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
4. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania locations.
5. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
6. For NJ only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in injections.
7. For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification not required if currently employed in a Medical Assistant role before 7/1/2024 within Einstein.
