Overview

The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, on-site Medical Assistant to join our team in our Manhattan, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with no major holidays, no on-call, and no weekends.

Position Summary

This role, under direct supervision, involves assisting with patient care, documentation, and disinfection of clinical areas. It requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to follow directives from clinical staff to ensure high-quality, personalized patient care. The position promotes efficient patient flow and adheres to US Oncology compliance standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties include:

  • Escort patients and assist with their movement within the facility.
  • Record patient data including vital signs, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians during exams and procedures.
  • Administer injections as delegated.
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfection protocols.
  • Handle patient calls and communicate with providers.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as typing, filing, and chart preparation.
  • Support patient flow and monitor check-in statuses.
  • Provide wheelchair assistance and ensure patient safety during transfers.
  • Document patient information accurately in EMR systems.
  • Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Participate in cross-training and attend required meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinical and administrative functions.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and data entry accuracy.
  • Type at least 40 WPM preferred.
  • Strong customer service and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain responsibility.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and good judgment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of medical office experience preferred or a graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred; experience may substitute.
Physical & Work Environment

This role involves sitting, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, manual dexterity, and prolonged computer use. Work is performed in a healthcare setting with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards typical of an oncology/hematology clinic.
