Job Requirements

Come join our team! We are hiring a float Medical Assistant. This is a full-time position that does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays and involves working at all three locations. Founded in 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers is an independent non-profit organization operating four clinics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, supporting over 100 employees dedicated to improving community health through culturally competent services.

We provide comprehensive care to approximately 16,000 patients annually, primarily low-income individuals. No one is turned away based on insurance or ability to pay. Our services include family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, urgent care, dental, radiology, and integrated behavioral health, along with supportive services like case management, health education, and benefits enrollment.

Responsibilities

1. Assist medical staff in examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor.
2. Maintain supply and inventory, ensuring compliance with clinic and OSHA standards.
3. Review patient charts for completeness and process referrals, labs, x-rays, etc.
4. Inform patients of delays and log patient information in data systems.
5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas.
6. Assist in patient assessment, monitoring, and preparation for examinations or procedures.
7. Greet and interview patients, obtain medical histories, vital signs, and current medications.
8. Act as liaison between doctor and patient, and participate in staff training.
9. Float to other areas as needed and uphold patient confidentiality.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of injections, universal precautions, blood-borne pathogens; ability to document patient information clearly; ability to relate well to diverse populations; and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
