The Medical Assistant provides clinical, administrative, and operational support to Lincoln University Health Services. This position assists nurses, medical providers, and the campus physician with daily health service operations, student care coordination, scheduling, documentation, and electronic health record management. The Medical Assistant plays an important role in ensuring that students receive timely, professional, and compassionate health services in a confidential and student-centered environment.
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Experience working in a medical office, college health center, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
Experience with electronic health records, data entry, scheduling systems, and office technology.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Ability to work effectively with college students and a diverse campus community.
Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Certified Medical Assistant credential.
Experience in higher education, student health, public health, or community health.
Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and student confidentiality requirements.
Experience completing purchasing requisitions or working with procurement systems.
Experience managing or supporting an Electronic Health Record system.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift light medical or office supplies as needed.
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to assist with setting up health programs, clinics, and outreach events.
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Response to crisis situations can be unpredictable, emotional, and threatening. The coordinator must be prepared to handle own stress.
