Overview

This is a full-time position working:

  • Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm
  • Saturday - 7:30 am - 12:30 pm, once a month

This position will operate in both the Libertyville and Gurnee clinic locations.

Summary

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role during patient visits, assisting the dermatologist and fostering a friendly, efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Rooming patients and documenting vital information
  • Scribing for the dermatologist
  • Providing post-op wound care
  • Drawing blood and removing sutures
  • Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
  • Scheduling patient appointments
Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:
  • Surgical photographs
  • Biopsies (punch, DIF, shave)
  • Excision procedures
  • Electrodessication and curettage
  • I&D (Incision and Drainage)
  • Mohs micrographic surgery
  • Phototherapy
  • Injections
  • KOH preps
  • Trichograms
  • Tzank preps
  • Dermabrasion
  • Patch testing
  • Blue light therapy
Qualifications
Education

Minimum post-high school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification within the prescribed period and maintain it.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office preferred
  • Current state certifications, licenses, and registrations required
  • Willingness to travel between clinic locations
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

The pay range for this role is $15.00 - $20.60 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and education.
