Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Job description

Position: Care Promoter 1

The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. Duties vary depending on the setting, size, location, and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. They are an integral part of a Physician-led Care Team focused on providing excellent primary care for a specific patient population.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Measure and record patient vital signs; record patient interview and medical history.
  2. Communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
  3. Prepare patients for examinations, perform routine screening tests, assist with exams, and explain procedures and instructions.
  4. Observe patients and report changes in condition to the PCP or relevant staff.
  5. Perform non-critical medical procedures, collect lab specimens, and perform basic waived lab tests.
  6. Administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform first aid under physician supervision.
  7. Maintain supplies and equipment, sterilize instruments, practice OSHA safety standards, and document accurately and ethically.
  8. Handle patient communications, including phone messages and relaying information to physicians.
  9. With physician approval, call in prescriptions to pharmacies and support medication dispensing using the ChenMed Rx system.
  10. Provide health coaching and follow-up with patients to support healthy lifestyle choices.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned and modified at the manager’s discretion.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills with compassion and empathy.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on patient care and team goals.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, products, services, and policies.
  • Proficiency in basic phone and computer operations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain organized systems for patient flow.
  • Ability to remain calm in busy or stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Willingness to travel locally up to 10% as needed.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
Education and Experience Criteria:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from a recognized Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training required.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a healthcare setting, or clinical rotation training.
  • Experience with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • EMR system experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross required within 90 days of employment.
