The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patient flow and perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals.
• Act as liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Maintain and order supplies; interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff, ensuring proper identification and patient escort to exam rooms.
• Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
• Remain proficient with and utilize information technology systems within scope of practice.
• Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections as needed.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
• Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification is not required if currently employed in a Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 within Einstein entities.
