Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support dermatology clinics in Harrisonburg, VA. The role involves rooming patients, scribing for the dermatologist, assisting with procedures, and managing post-op wound care.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of medical office experience, CMA certification, and familiarity with EMR systems. Travel to other clinic locations may be required; a team-oriented, detail-focused professional will thrive here.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
  • Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
  • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and document vital information
  • Scribing information for the dermatologist
  • Providing post op wound care to patients

  • Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as: surgical photographs, biopsies, excisions, electrodessication and curettage, I&D, Mohs surgery, phototherapy, injections, Koh preps, Trichograms, TzanK preps

Qualifications
Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
  • Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
  • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Must possess organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
