Qualifications

QuadMed is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Hanover, Pennsylvania!

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Medical Assistant I will be a highly motivated, quality-conscious healthcare professional interested in working in an environment where one-on-one patient interactions and positive outcomes are the ultimate success measures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Measure and record vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation into the EMR, including patient interviews, histories, vital signs, treatments, and test results
  • Assist medical staff with patient examinations
  • Use CPR skills when necessary
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments
  • Provide patients with instructions and information regarding preparations and registration
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organization information, following federal and state regulations and policies
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain affiliations with medical assistant associations, as applicable
  • Support concepts of preventive healthcare and team-based care delivery
  • Perform front office duties such as reception, patient check-in/out, payment collection, and electronic scheduling
  • Perform routine screening tests and draw blood samples, preparing them for lab analysis
  • Administer ordered injectable medications and immunizations
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures
  • Assist with scheduling internal/external referrals
  • Travel may be required for certain clients and health centers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or equivalent education and experience
Experience:
  • Minimum one (1) year as a Medical Assistant
  • Phlebotomy and lab experience
  • Front office experience
  • Experience in a primary care setting
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification or obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT preferred; other certifications require review/approval
  • Skill certification through NIOSH or CAOHC preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Commitment to preventative healthcare and team-based delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written)
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations and promote diversity and inclusion
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
